The flex disc is a flexible coupler designed to join the transmission output shaft and the driveshaft. This rubber reinforced coupler primarily functions as an isolator that keeps off vibration from the rest of the drivetrain while transmitting power from the engine and transmission to the rear differential and wheels. This ensures that power is continuously distributed to the rear differential and wheels during the entire engine operation without causing interferences such as vibrations to the drivetrain. The flex disc has a rubber shell that is usually supported with rope cords on the inside.
